CapMetro App Reviews

Great, but...

Using the online ticket process is a little confusing at first.

My bus ticket expired right away when I bought it.

Dont update. Use paper pass instead.

Works Great

The tickets do not expire upon purchase. I was in town for a conference and downloaded the app to purchase tickets and find bus routes despite the bad reviews. When you activate your ticket it gives you 20 minutes to use it, FYI. If you have an all day pass, you just activate your ticket again once the previous one expired. It is easy to navigate and is very user friendly, so much better than any public transportation apps we have in Seattle.

Garbage app

There are so many things wrong with this app, mostly having to do with Facebook connectivity. Frankly it is so clunky and annoying to use, that it’s less of a hassle for me to get prepaid smart cards at the transit store in bulk because I don’t have to wait for them to load. Frankly I’m still hoping that CapMetro will roll out a smart card network where they’re actually reloadable because it’s such a waste of plastic, but that’s neither here nor there. That being said, the app has several major issues. The primary one being that if you connect your Facebook to it and change your password, you won’t be able to access your tickets ever again. I found this out the day after purchasing a monthly commuter pass, which I was forced to re-purchase because I couldn’t access it. Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States with a massive transit network, and frankly CapMetro should be embarrassed by this app.

Was good, not anymore

For the past few days, the app has not been working. No matter what I click on, I get a message that says "Failed to Load Web Page". I rely on these buses and this app a lot, and hope this gets fixed soon.

Bad

The buses doesnt get in time to the stop and the trip time to get in my house always is wrong

Great App!!!

I have no issues using this app for Cap Metro for the train. It is easy to setup with a credit card, and just as easy to purchase tickets.

Why all the invalid passes?

When this app works, its great and convenient. But most of the time I keep having an issue after purchasing a pass (Premium day pass at that!). Its been three or four times now that it has scanned as invalid after purchasing a pass the same day, and I cant seem to figure out what is going wrong. Ive needed to show drivers the date of expiration every time to be clear Im not just riding for free. Its worse when all I have is my phone and no cash on hand. Please fix this bug ASAP. Its such a pain to deal with.

Fix the Offline Ticket Issue!

This has been happening since version 1.0. You can save your tickets OFFLINE, but you have to be ONLINE to sign into your account to view/use them. This makes zero sense, and is the most glaring bug that hasn’t been fixed. Oh, and Max at Bytemark “Support” has an endless amount of excuses for you on why the app is so friggin perfect.

Only usable if you already know your bus routes

Very poorly constructed. When entering to and from for a trip planner, it declared no bus routes matched, then gave random examples of routes numbered 10600 and 9680, complete waste of time. There is no option to view a general map of the city while showing all the different available bus routes, in order to see which buses you can take near your location to head towards the location you wish to go to. So the only point of the entire application is to view stop times of routes that you already know, and nothing else. Utter crap for a smartphone app

Be less beta...

This app has never found my location when I use find my location, major bug. Also, is the first time I have purchased a ticket on the app, seems to work fine, will find out how it goes when I use the bus. Final thought, can we make this look more like 2016 and less like windows 95.

Gets the job done

Its great. Makes buying my train tickets easy. Works reliably

Works well especially identifying the stop nearby

Used it for a visit. App worked well including updating the pickup time of the bus in real time. Wish we had this in our city.

Works fine for my needs

Although I dont need to buy anything off of it, which seems to be a problem for people.

Better to use paper tickets

This is app is hot garbage. It makes you re-activate tickets every time you go to use it, which doesnt always work in the moment. It will randomly sign you out or show you have no purchased tickets. Thats pretty stressful when you purchase a $100 monthly pass. This is the most basic function of the app and it fails miserably. The second most important function is helping you plan your trip with schedules you can navigate and read. Does it work? Nope. It just loads web pages, so you know they put a lot of care into that experience. Skip it. Buy the paper tickets.
